Safely Continuing Operations Through The Coronavirus Crisis (01/06/2020)

Date: 01/06/2020

First Hydro Power Stations are critical to the National Infrastructure and we continue to operate to provide stable power for British homes and businesses.

I want to let you know about the steps we are taking at First Hydro during this time to keep workers and the community safe.

We are observing Government Guidelines and have taken measures to minimise the number of employees working on site. We have introduced remote working practices, where viable, and revised shift patterns to physically isolate different working parties from each other.

Very shortly we will be starting some essential maintenance on the Dinorwig Units. Where possible, the work will be carried out using First Hydro employees, but we’ll also need to draw on a number of Specialist Contract employees to provide critical support.

The major work to refurbish Ffestiniog Power Station is also planned to resume and it is essential to employ specialists to continue this work. Delivering the project will enable us to reinstate full service of the power station which provides vital flexibility for the National Grid System.

We are closely monitoring the Government Guidance and in view of the requirement to only make essential journeys we are minimising the number of specialists visiting our sites. We are also ensuring any contact with the local community is in line with Welsh Government guidance.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact First Hydro via fhc.info@engie.com
